FedEx hikes charges for holiday shipping season

As the holiday season approaches, FedEx has announced significant increases in shipping fees across its U.S. network. This move, aimed at managing the anticipated surge in demand, will take effect at the end of September and continue through mid-January. It seems that the company is preparing to handle the additional logistical challenges posed by the busy season. The new charges include an additional handling fee of $5.95 per package effective from September 28 through November 22. As we approach the Christmas peak, this fee will escalate to $11.85 per package on critical dates. In the aftermath of the holiday rush, the fee will revert to $8.80 from December 28 to January 17. Moreover, a new unauthorized package surcharge, along with an oversize package fee of $95.75, will also be implemented. These adjustments will affect both domestic and international shipments handled by FedEx. As the demand grows during this festive period, the company is keen on optimizing its logistics and enhancing revenue streams to ensure smooth operations.
