The latest edition of the Global Shipping Report, released by Descartes, a logistics provider based in Waterloo, Ontario, indicates a modest rise in imports to the United States. The report reveals that container imports reached 2,400,627 TEUs in May, reflecting a 1.2% decline from April but an annual increase of 8.2% compared to the same month last year. This growth aligns with the typical seasonal patterns observed in June. Year-to-date figures show a slight year-over-year decline of 0.3% in import volumes, yet a significant 22.2% uptick when compared to pre-pandemic levels from 2019.
