FGK Trials New 8-Axle Freight Cars
A significant advancement in freight transportation has been initiated by the Federal Freight Company (FGK), which has commenced pilot testing of its new 8-axle freight car known as ‘BAM’. This new transportation method is set to enhance the logistics of carrying heavy and voluminous goods, an essential factor for challenging logistics scenarios.
The first trial operations involve the transport of mineral concentrate halite, commonly referred to as technical salt, packaged in big bags. Aimed at the oil industry, this cargo was selected for the inaugural shipment due to specially tailored technical specifications developed to accommodate both the nature of the cargo and the freight car design. This strategic approach ensures the most effective utilization of the new rolling stock model.
Company representatives indicate that the high load capacity of the 8-axle freight cars enables a decrease in the number of trips required for transport, positively impacting overall costs. The evolution of transport logistics through advanced models like the 8-axle ‘BAM’ could set a new benchmark in the freight transport sector.
