June Sees Cement Cargo Surge on Russian Railways
The month of June 2026 has marked a notable uptick in cement transportation across Russian railway networks, indicating a positive shift in the construction sector. A total of 2.2 million tons of cement were dispatched during this period, representing a 6.5% increase compared to last year, which translates to over 2,000 additional wagons utilized for transportation. This surge highlights the growing domestic demand for construction materials.
The domestic market has been a key driver of this increase, with more than 2 million tons of cement transported within Russia, up 4.3%. Exports also demonstrated remarkable growth, rising 1.7 times to reach 117,000 tons. This expansion has been facilitated by the establishment of new logistics channels, enabling Russian manufacturers to broaden their reach and tap into international markets.
The highest volumes of cement were dispatched from Krasnodar Krai, with 241,000 tons, followed closely by the Republic of Mordovia at 197,000 tons and Sverdlovsk Oblast at 171,000 tons. These figures serve as an encouraging sign for investors and industry participants regarding the increasing activity within the domestic economy.
